WHAT WE BELIEVE

We are an Independent Chapel associated with the Gospel Standard group of Churches. These Churches believe in the doctrines of God’s free grace, often described as Calvinism. We practise baptism by immersion for believers only, though not necessary for salvation. We believe that baptism is necessary before church membership and partaking of the Lord’s Supper. 

There are four trustees who have the main responsibility of the Chapel. They choose the preachers who minister to the people at the different services throughout the year. Three of the trustees are local preachers themselves and the fourth is a representative of the Gospel Standard Trust. Briefly stated, we believe:

• There is only one true and living God

• The Bible is God’s infallible Word

• God created all things in six days

• Man is a fallen, sinful creature and can in no way save himself

• God has a chosen people. Jesus, the eternal Son of God, redeemed them by his death on the cross. All of them, and only they, will come to heaven at last

• All who are saved by Jesus Christ should seek grace at all times to live to God’s honour and glory and act consistently with His word

• That those who are called by God to repentance and blessed with faith in Jesus Christ have eternal life
