ABOUT
As is the little chapel, the services are very plain and reverent. The Services on the Lords Day (Sunday) start at 6:30pm.
Simply come along and take a seat in any of the pews. You will be most welcome.
The services are around 90 minutes in duration and are as follows:
· Hymn
· Scripture
· Prayer
· Hymn
· Sermon
· Hymn
· Benediction
The hymns are announced by a local church member at the front of the chapel and the congregation stand to sing together.
The prayers, the sermon and the benediction are conducted solely by the visiting minister from a pulpit in the centre of the chapel.
The Sermon itself usually lasts between 30/40 minutes and is generally preached without notes, being based on a verse or two from the bible (the ‘text’)
The hymnbook we use are called Gadsby Hymns. Mr William Gadsby was an outstanding preacher from the 1800s who became widely known and respected for the gospel hymns he wrote during his lifetime.
The tunes we sing to the hymns are from the Companion Tune Book accompanied by an organ in the chapel.
Both Bibles and Hymnbooks are provided at the Chapel for your use, or you are welcome to bring your own. If you would like a bible of your own, please click here
Please come along to our service when you can, you won’t be asked to participate but please join in with us singing the hymns and listen quietly to the Word of God. If you have any questions after the service has concluded, please feel free to speak to the minister.
A TRUE STORY
Occasionally a minister may arrive at a Chapel with no settled text on his mind to preach before the hearers.
Many years ago two elderly ministers were talking to each other about the sermons they had been able to preach. One said to the other who clearly burdened about preaching the gospel, there are sometime my friend, times when I go into the pulpit without a text to preach from at all. My chief concern is to preach what Christ has led me to say. I pray earnestly to God that the words I am to preach will be from Him and a blessing to the people listening in the chapel. There was a one particular time when I drove to a chapel to preach and I had no word from the Lord, I got to the chapel and sat in the vestry not knowing what to do. I had no text to preach from. I could hear all the people gathering in the chapel ready to start. The deacon came in and we prayed together for a while but still no text. My prayers and cries to God were very real. As the time came to start the service I walked slowly up the pulpit steps. There were 3 steps and as I walked up these steps one by one the Lord dropped 3 words into my heart to preach from. Lord Help Me.*
And so, amazingly, the preacher spoke from those 3 words for 30 minutes. As he explained the word to the people, the context in the bible there was hardly a dry eye left in the pews.
*This verse in the Bible is found in the book of Matthew Chapter 15 v 25

DON'T BE A STRANGER
“No more a stranger or a guest, but like a child at home”
This beautiful quote is derived from a hymn based on Psalm 23. The original text was paraphrased by the renowned hymn writer Isaac Watts (1674-1748). Some of his hymns are in the Gadsbys Hymnbook used at the chapel.
